All in all there's not much to complain about. Yes, it came slathered in cosmoline, but I was prepared for that. I stripped it down as far as I could and soaked everything in mineral spirits for awhile then a wash in hot water. Dried everything out and then lubed her up. I broke it in with about 50rds of high brass, during which time I had a couple failures to feed. Then switched to low brass and shot another 50rds with no issues. It's big, it's heavy, it's long, it's ugly..... Hell, I love it. Can't really complain for $140.
Shotgun was as described. Dishwashing detergent contains chemicals used to disperse oil spills and the parts were completely disassembled except for the bolt. Parts were put in hot water with dishwashing detergent for about 15 minutes. Parts were rinsed and some oiled as appropriate. The bolt groove that the hammer rides in was filed and polished to remove weld material that rubbed against the bold slowing the action. Debris in the gas ports were cleaned out with a small drill bit. The bolt and receiver grooves were coated with valve grind compound and the action worked by hand until is worked smoothly. The parts were cleaned and work smoothly after being lubed. The mags will not take slugs with a roll crimp. I have not shot this gun yet, but had my dealer order another one with a shorter barrel. Finish not great. I rate this a one so far based on price.
Great buy. Took the better part of an hour to take it apart and wipe it clean of cosmoline, but that's not a huge deal, I expected that. I fired about 8 rounds of high brass through it and it stovepiped every time, but after that short break in period it worked flawlessly. I only wish they made higher capacity magazines. The 5 rounder price is a little steep, but I know they are hard to come by. For the price, you can't beat this as a good starter or for the heck of it shotgun.
